News : Korean convicted of racism for 1st time
I read this article on the web.
I think some people in Korea are heavily neglected and discriminated because of their race or nationality. It is sad, we need to do something.
When Korean people think of racism , they think discrimination toward African American people.
Or Korean being neglected in Western countries.
We consider ourselves as victims of racism. But sometimes we are the one who discriminate people.
Especially racial discrimination in Korea toward South or South East Asian people.
Here's the article.
Korean convicted of racism for 1st time
November 28, 2009
A 31-year-old man surnamed Park was fined 1 million won ($860) yesterday for using racially discriminatory remarks against an Indian research professor working in Korea, according to the Bucheon branch of the Incheon District Court. It’s the first time a Korean has been convicted of racism here. Bonojit Hussain, 28, filed charges against Park after he was subjected to a tirade of abusive language on a bus on July 10 this year. Park called the Indian “dirty” and “smelly.”The Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office decided to file summary indictments against Park on Aug. 31 this year. Prosecutors pressed charges against Park under criminal law because Korea does not have a law prohibiting language or actions that discriminate against race. The decision of the prosecutors’ office prompted Democratic Party lawmaker Jun Byung-hun to announce on Sept. 6 a plan for a new bill banning Koreans from racist behavior and language. Jun said clauses in the bill will make it illegal for Koreans to humiliate or instill a sense of shame among foreigners living here. The bill also covers insulting behavior and mistreatment in the job market, education, criminal investigation, court rooms, mass transportation, commercial facilities, housing and financial and medical services. Under the proposal, foreigners can appeal to the National Human Rights Commission if they feel they have suffered racial discrimination while in Korea. By Lee Min-yong [smartpower@joongang.co.kr]

Here are some movies that I love most.
1. Pride and Prejudice
I am a big fan of the original novel and also fan of the movie!
First time I watch this movie I did not really like it.
But after watching several time, I fell in love with the movie.
Some people recommend me to watch TV drama version of Pride and Prejudice.
I haven't seen it because I am not a really big fan of Collin. =(
(sorry Collin )
2. Serendipity (2001)
This is my all time favorite movie!
This movie is, like the title, about one accidental fortunate love story.
I see this movie every Christmas season.
The story is like a fairytale, and I can say that that's not going to happen in real.
But this is really beautiful movie. I love it so much !

People I admire
It is really hard to pick just one person who I admire. Because there are so many people who has done great works. And I know nobody is perfect.
For this reason, I don't really choose one person to admire. I choose to admire everyone with same respect because all of them worth it.
I mean each person has some good part of their own. ( most people, not all)
I do not mean that I want to follow some notorious people. =(
Here are my examples.
1) Barack Obama
As you already know, he is the first African American president of the United States.
I think he is an exellent orator.
2) Coco Chanel
You can't talk fashion without mentioning coco Chanel. She's like a pioneer of fashion.
Thanks to her, women can look beautyful without corsets and paddings.
3) My mom
I always thank to her devotion. She's a working mother and raised three children when she had to be apart from my dad because of the work.
Also she is a great cook. That's why my family never goes to eat out.
And literally she can do everything !
She bakes, sews, knits, not mentioning her planting and gardening skill !
I really love her except when she compares me to her friend's 15 year-old son. haha

My Favorite Websites
As I already mentioned, I love on-line shopping.
Also I am huge fan of makeup products, so I always check new trends and products on market.
Here's my favorite websites.
1. Shopbop.com
This is amazing on-line clothing store. They sells clothes, shoes, bag and accessories.!
You can find famous or new desinger brand clothes here.
2. Sephora.com
For cosmestics, this is a good websites. I used to check this websit and to go shopping when I was in states and Canada. Unfortunately, they don't ship to Korea.
3. wizwid.com
Actually this is my favorite Korean website! (for shopping) They sells western desingers' clothes.
You can shop like you are in US or something.
But the products are little pricier than the original price. so check out other similar websites when you are decided to buy certain one from this website.
* Besides shopping, I like to go to Youtube and watch videos! =]
